I have read the commentary here on the DIAD jacket and it looks like a great unit, but I need some feedback on sizing. I am 5'-11" tall, chest size is 46" and waist is 34". Underneath a DIAD I need to be able to layer the following combinations:

– thin wicking shirt only
– thin wicking shirt + Patagonia R2 fleece
– thin wicking shirt + Patagonia R2 + Patagonia puffball vest (rarely; coldest case)

Given the fit of the DIAD, do you think I should get a XLarge or 2XLarge?

I have a Diad and use it for any trip where the low is expected to be above freezing. I would push it lower, but its too snug to use with my winter camp layer.

My chest is 44", I have a large. It's fine with a fleece jacket, but that's about it.

If you can't try it on in a store with all your layers, I'd order both sizes and ship back the one that doesn't fit. If you have to go with one, I'd go with the larger size.

By the way, I think it's a great jacket. Very light, very water-proof.

I have the large with a 32waist and I am able to layer a base layer, as well as a fleece or light down jacket. depending on what you want to layer you may want the 2XL. I find my large to be perfect. I usually wear medium jackets.

It is the best rain jacket I have owned.
