Here's a weird request.
I'm hoping to get back to Japan at the end of the year (it's been 20 years) and my main mode of transport will again be hitch-hiking. Having a good Atlas makes it easy to get around on backroads and if the atlas is in Kanji then the driver can read it. This is how I got around on my first two visits back in the 80's.
I'm thinking about getting an atlas called Mapple Max (or Max Mapple) that has all of Japan and most of it 1:200,000. Has anyone of our Japanese residents used this atlas or can recommend one that may have better detail?
I'll get the spine guillotined off and take what maps I need or photo-copied versions.
Also, I will do a bit of camping, if you want to recommend some yummy treats sweet or savoury that would be good to take along. I'll only camp for a day or two so weight is not a serious issue.
