I'm already looking forward to getting my first opportunity to glissade on the PCT next year. The problem is that I'll just be carrying a long skirt, and possibly some light (~6oz) wind pants that I got from target. I have read that glissading is rough on your clothing, and worry that it will just shred thin, nylon pants to bits. How do you ultralighters do it?

Sitting on a piece of Tyvek instead of directly on the snow with your wind/rain pants works well to preserve more expensive items.
Check this older BPL thread for a discussion of glissading:

Is it possible to glissade on top of a GG Nightlight pad? I won't be carrying a groundcloth, and definitely no Tyvek, but perhaps i could use my foam sleeping pad? I'm also interested in the trash compactor bag worn as a diaper that was mentioned in the thread that Kathleen recommended.
if you have a trash bag, no need to diaperize it, just sit directly on it. I have done it in long shorts before, they filled with snow.
Make sure to check the run out area!! Snow quality can change dramatically from place to place and you can get onto ice or rotten snow with rocks underneath. If you walk up near the route, you can scope it first.
There is the standing glissade… or if you have a shovel, they sometimes are the right thing.
Depends on why you are wearing the pants; to go faster or stay dry. Wear shorts over the pants to protect the pants.
