"Oh, you mean the rest of the country doesn't have espresso huts all the way up the mountain passes on the state highways?"

Sarah:

The rest of the country isn't bleak, grey and rainy every darn day! When the days are dark and rainy, I always feel like curling up and going to sleep. The time I worked up in Seattle, I was drinking coffee constantly just to keep awake! No wonder all the drug — er I mean coffee — chains all originate from the PNW! No thanks. Sunny Southern Cal for me. (heh heh)

It’s not light by any stretch but if you must have a cup of real espresso in the backcountry the 476g
Handpresso looks like your best option. You have to watch the video to see it in action, it’s pretty darn cool!

I tend to use whatever instant I can find and load it up with some extra creamer. By chance I discovered that Mount Hagen organic instant coffee is pretty darn good.

Hey, it is blinding bright outside right now :-P (Of course it is also a sheet of ice…..)
Just because I was a pusher, er, Barista, for nearly 9 years means I heart my coffee.

Honestly? On overnighters I don't pack coffee. I actually just hike out. I can tell you almost everywhere there is an espresso machine in western Wa coming from trailheads. I don't stop at rest areas, I stop at Starbucks ;-) Cleaner and they have my addiction!

On longer trips I just pack tea or instant coffee and sugar it up. I cannot make coffee as good as the machine can..so why try?

Just to give you and idea, more than one place in the Northwest sells Espresso and worms.
