Allen, I must admit I had previously given the Reactor bag liner a bad review. I used it inside a very light "liner" sleeping bag at near zero Celsius temperatures and was not happy. Now, however I am more realistic and actually find it to be my favourite bag liner, because it stretches, which makes it very comfortable. I washed my silk liner in too hot water which makes it feels gross. The Reactor liner feels so much better against the skin. Definitely recommended. It does make your bag warmer, but not by 8 degrees. Pieter

I supposed good or bad depends on what you want it for.

I bought one a while ago — thrilled to have a 15F boost from such a light weight liner. I went out on a weekender — nighttime low was around 50F — and I paired the liner with a 50F bag that I knew was overrated — but figured I would be safe with a 15F "buffer".

Boy was I wrong! I wasn't deathly cold, but I WAS cold the whole night! In my experience, a very light weight silk or coolmax liner will give you about 2-3F boost. The S-T-S Reactor will give you 3-5F tops.

I blasted the company on an AUSTRALIAN forum — half expecting the Aussies to defend their 'home company'. But guess what? Most all the replies were further rants against S-T-S from the home boys! Apparently, S-T-S' so-called waterproof lightweight dry bags were over hyped by the company ads as well. That should tell you something about S-T-S.

In conclusion, the bag is comfy and using it will help keep your sleeping bag cleaner. Just don't expect it to boost temps by anywhere near 15F — or even 10F. I think S-T-S makes GOOD products — they just need to rein in their marketing folks.
