Another vote for this stuff. Got the stink right out of my boots.
Hmm, sounds like it's not goretex holding moisture in the shoe. It might be mold, especially if it was a moldy dead horse smell. But if it was more of a tipi without a tums on sour chilli night aroma, that could be bacterial. Maybe give a dousing in hydrogen peroxide if you aren't tied to keeping the colors original. There is a chance it could bleach the colors. If it becomes a standard issue with the boots, perhaps an ozone generator would help make it easier to deodorize them after the trip. That listerine idea sounds like a way to add some pleasant aroma into your boots. It might even tingle the toes.
I just realized you were like Andrew and John, out there in the scary pristine wilderness. Â Â I like your no style, but is it responsible ?
You should probably get these tested to ensure you aren’t damaging the fragile ecosystems with your foot funk.
