I'll be in South Carolina (Columbia and Charleston area) around Christmas. I'm not too familiar with the area. Any recommendations for a 1-2 night backpacking trip? Maybe a loop?

Sumter National Forest is easy to get to its between Charelston and Columbia. Also, I used to ride/overnight in Sesquicentennial Park, its alright. I'm not to sure about Charelston, I can ask some friends that live there. Good luck!
If you have a better idea of what your looking for I can probably point you in the right direction. You could create a 20 mile ish hike in Congaree National Park which is unique terrain and easy walking. No fires though. Better backpacking is in the NW corner but further from Columbia.
Thanks guys. I'll be going with my brother. Congaree National Park sounds neat, my brother doesn't live far from there and apparently dogs are allowed there. I'm more interested in mountains but it doesn't have to be. We don't mind driving a couple hours or so.
I hiked and canoed Congaree a lot growing up, its beautiful there and I have no idea how I forgot that on the list. Upstate is gorgeous too if you have the time. Anywhere up around Clemson, Issaqueena would be worth a putz around. North Carolina admittedly has a lot more/ better options to choose from.
