We are looking for a multiday trip to take next May. Tough to find one where snow won't make it impassable at the high elevations (I know its hard to predict). We did the John Muir Trail in 2014 and the Thunder River/Deer Creek loop in the Grand Canyon this past May. So I am up for a new challenge and adventure with my fiance. Willing to travel pretty much anywhere in the lower 48. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Trinity Alps – depends on year but I've gone there in late May and there wasn't too much snow Rogue River – a little hot by then – 40 miles Beach on the Olympic Peninsula – like from Rialto Beach to Ozette is 20 miles, but walking on the beach is more difficult than trail. You could walk a little further north and add 5 miles.

The Olympic coast beach hike is great. You can easily make it 50 starting at Ozette and hiking south to Oil City. Hiking on a beach may seem easy and some of it is, but there is lots of variety hiking over headlands, rock hopping, tide pooling and other fun stuff. A grand time with incredible vistas.

King Range National Conservation Area, aka the Lost Coast in northern California Point Reyes National Seashore and adjacent parks in northern California I’ve been here, will go back. Santa Cruz mountains in central California. I’ve been here, will go back. Henry Coe State Park in central California I’ve been here, will go back. Home of many GGGs. Trans Catalina Trail, on Catalina Island in southern California. Pacific Crest Trail sections in southern California. Some sections will have less snow than others. Big Bend National Park in Texas on the Mexican border. See BPL trip reports for most of these areas. — Rex
