I was lucky to have the opportunity to join some friends for a quick hike up Mt. Whitney recently. The long car ride over there from the bay area was maybe the hardest part. We spent a night camped at the Portal, then got up the next morning at 2:30 for a 3:00 AM start. Around 13,000 ft I started feeling spaced out due to the altitude. I wondered if I accidentally ate a pot brownie earlier that morning instead of a Cliff Bar. We had good weather and were able to hang out at the top for a little while. I try to never say no to trips like these but of course with a family and other responsibilities sometimes it’s just not possible to run out the door with a backpack. I’m glad I got to do this one. More pics and details here for anyone who may be interested… http://hikeitlikeit.com/2015/mt-whitney-the-quintessential-hike/

great job Jacob. I start feeling like pot brownies around 11,000 … so you lasted better than me at least.

Hi Art. As long as we both know what pot brownies feel like, then it doesn't really matter what the elevation is.
