does anybody know whether the r1 hoody actually exists anywhere on the planet? I'm completely striking out with google. Has it been discontinued?

I just bought an R1 hoody 30 minutes ago. It existed at my local patagonia store. You can also buy them from the website. You shouldn't have trouble finding one of these.
Which store did you buy yours from? Maybe I can get them to ship one to me. I don't have a patagonia store in texas unfortunately. I haven't been able to find one at any local patagonia retailers or online. The patagonia website says they're out of stock.
There is a Patagonia store in Houston, you could try there.
I ordered mine through the Patagonia website. I got one recently from there. They were out of my size in their online-available stock, but I called them and they went on a nearlywild goose chase for me, aparently calling around to all their retail stores to raid their stocks. You shouldn't have trouble finding one of these if you go through the Patagonia website.
They're definitely out there. I picked one up last week at the Patagonia store in Seattle, and there were several more on the rack. The REI website had them listed, but only available in size XXL. It sounds as if the only places that have them are Patagonia stores. Maybe they're running short of inventory and keeping what's left "in house"?
In the San Francisco Bay area I have recently seen a full selection of R1 sizes at the San Francisco Patagonia store and also at the CA Flyfishing store in San Carlos.
Yeah, there were a few left at the Boston store also.. though they were sold out of a large. If you call patagonia they should be able to find one for you!
What size? I snagged a men's small from my local store as well (they called me when they arrived) and I've seen an XL and XS there recently.
They're out there for sure but numbers seem to be small.
Thx a million for the info folks. I have NEVER run across a piece of gear that seemed so elusive. It was driving me nuts. None of the usual dotcom suspects have it in stock. For the past couple of weeks at least Patagonia hasn't had it in stock either.
Alas, the gear gods heard my anguished cries and a large r1 hoody showed up on the patagonia site today. I feel like I won the lottery.

Patagonia.com is out of stock of atleast the M and L sizes…I want one of these suckers!

They're not kidding when they say this. Call that number and the good folks at Patagonia mail order will hook you up. That's how I got mine just a couple weeks ago.
