Hello! here is a pack I am excited to finally be finished with, want to share the design I have been conjuring up all year from reading threads on bpl.
The pack weighs 16.5ounces with untrimmed webbing. Made of scraps and leftovers, with 50cent oxford nylon as main material, also has 1.5 cuben, silnylon, and a marmot wickdry tshirt. The frame is pex pipe in a sleeve, elbowed with micro irrigation elbows, 2.5oz.
I spent 2 to 4 hours a month on it all year, and 2 to 4 hours a week this past month, finalized by one last hyper focus session tonight.
photos of a large load vs lightest load. I love how this turned out, it lands in the perfect spot on my hips with a foam impression to stabilize the contact, and the time I took to form the pads to my body really paid off. Although this bag carries far more than any other bag I've owned so I got to watch what I pack, but no more cramming! What I would change would be to make it able to stand up. With the cuben/silnylon as a base and grab handles, it is super slippery like a banana. I would integrate webbing into the top opening for longevity and use better hardware and fabric too, I just scavanged junk bits or ran out of stuff. Enjoy!

What a cool, customized piece of handiwork you've made, Russell! I like the trampoline back (I have a Zpacks Arc) and the use of scraps. The stretchy tshirt side pockets should work great. What is PX pipe?
Hey thank you, the pex pipe is from homedepot, it is for plumbing and comes in 3' lengths
Nice Russell. I like how the pack is held off of your back. How much weight do you think you could comfortably carry in it?
no idea, put all my winter gear which is 11lb and felt like nothing. I was shooting for 35lb so I can harvest reishi mushrooms and haul them. The biggest factor will be my lack of compression from shoulders up, there is some top sway.
