Long time lurker, first time poster. We have been doing quite a bit of family backpacking (two adults two little ones) and are looking for a one shelter solution for all of us. I have looked at all the offerings from REI to Tarptent and don't feel good about anything commercially available. For solo and duo trips I use a 9'x 8' simply light silpoly tarp with a BPWD nettent 1.5 and find this combo to be very lightweight and weatherproof for three seasons in the cascades. I can't really find any information on anyone making a 3 person tarp/net-tent combo, but am thinking of fabricating my own (hopefully with RBTR PU4000). I'm thinking of something like a 10'x12' catcut tarp over a nettent with a footprint of around 6'x8' (~10in bathtub). My question for the experts is there a particular physical or logistical reason nobody makes 3 person tarp-tents? I am sure someone here has thought of and/or tried such an endeavor is there any advice or caveats that I should be aware of? Thanks so much! Drew
