Can anyone advise me on sizing for Altra Lone Peak 2.5 trail runners? Are these runners true to size? Or should I size up or down? Thanks, Mike

i wear an 11.5 in all my shoes, including running and hiking shoes. My Altra LP 2.5's are also 11.5's. For me true to size.

Normally I'm a 9.5 in running shoes but size up at 1/2 size when I hike in trail shoes (Cascadias, Montrails)… BUT…. I recently ordered the LP 2.5's in 10 and there were too big. The toe box is HUGE and the mesh uppers don't have much structure. My foot migrated a fair amount and I felt a tiny slippage in the heal – which could lead to a big problem after a few miles (I wear medium weight smartwool socks, fyi). I have since returned them and I'm awaiting the 9.5s for a more secure, true fit. I did take them on one trail run and they felt like pure bliss though…. slippers on your feet. Love love love them. Just hoping the 1/2 size down 'locks' my foot in. Hope that helps.

I have one foot that is higher volume through the instep. I found with the 2.5's, I had to increase a 1/2 size to prevent pressure in the instep. I think that the mesh used is less stretchy than the 1.5's I was using, to try to address the durability concerns.

Not to threadjack, but is sizing for the new Superiors consistent with sizing for the LPs? I'm a 9.5 in LP 1.5s and wondering if I can confidently stick with the same size, in either the Superiors or the LP 2.5.

I have the LP 1.5s, and tried a pair of the 2.5s last weekend. The toebox is less clownish now, which is good given the move toward a midsole stack height approaching that of the Olympus. It's generous, but not sloppy. Sizing has been an issue with Altra in the past – one batch to the next had massive variability. They seem to have it under control now. The pair I tried on were true to size (US 11 for me).

Like BJ, my Lone Peak 2.5's are true to size. I wear a 12.5 in most running shoes and the LP 2.5's fit great in a 12.5.

Thank you all for your replies. This is exactly the info I was looking for. I'm going to give the 2.5s a go. Cheers!

FYI the Lone Peak 2.5's (and Superior 2's) are 20% off now on Amazon with the code FALL20OFF. At first it said it wouldn't apply, but then the credit showed up on checkout. Depending on size the 2.0's are as low as $70 but doesn't qualify for the additional discount. Love the 2.0 for trail running (and road for that matter) as well as packing. Not sure I'm due for a new pair yet, but the discounts are nice. Appreciate the above discussion is helpful since Altra's sizing is always a bit wonky.

I own pairs of 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 Lone Peaks in 11.5 and I feel that all are true to size.

Just thought I'd post a quick update…. I swapped out my LP 2.5's a half size down to my regular running shoe size and the fit is spot on true. I even put on a medium weight pair of smartwool socks, went for a run, and there's still plenty of wiggle room. The shoes just feel phenomenal. I can't say enough positive things about this shoe. This could be THE ONE. :)

I bought a pair last weekend. I feel they are true to size. Haven't yet tried them on a hike, but the fit feels right right out of the box. Plenty of wiggle room in front without feeling sloppy. Time on trail will tell.

I own a pair of each from 1.5-2.5 and they all are true to size for me in 11.5. Lone Peaks by far have the best fit of any shoe I've tried. Unfortunately, the durability leaves much to be desired at the price Altra is asking.

I'm an 11 in the Lone Peak or Superior (preferred) but a 10.5 in the Altra road shoes. I'm also a 10.5 (or 43) in Vivo Barefoot shoes which have a similarly wide toe box. I'd say the Altra trails shoes run 1/2 size small but I can't wear most normally sized toebox shoes without sizing up at least 1 full size for whatever that is worth. If you've been wearing typically narrow shoes all your life, you'll probably be fine with your normal size. If you've been barefooting most of your life and have a correspondingly shaped foot, you may need to size up a bit with the trail shoes.
