New Balance MT800

I just got the NB 800's last week so I have not put any real miles on them. A few initial comments: They are very light (10 oz. for size 9), very flexible (almost slipper-like), have solid cushioning, look to be quite durable for the weight (nice toe bumber), look like they would drain well, and the last is pretty curved so strong ankles may be needed. The tread pattern also does a good job of gripping muddy conditions. I would put them in the same category as the Inov-8's in the same weight class. I am really excited to put them through their paces. They seem to be just what I have been looking for. In addition, the price is right. I would say they are definitely worth a try.

Nice, thats just what I wanted to hear. Besides my hiking and daily running shoe, I am also training for a marathon next year so I am looking for a shoe I can totally beat the crap out of while keeping it light. I spoke with a New Balance rep yesterday and she def said that they are the top of the line in terms of a durable trail runner so I think I will have to give them a try as well.

Yes, they are certainly durable for the weight. I wouldn't hesitate to wear such a shoe for marathon training (actually I am doing the same thing). The fit is really nice. Snug and sock-like, but not cramped. I would say the cushioning will be the first thing to go on them since they keep the foot really low to the ground, and there is simply not a whole lot of space for a lot of long-lasting cushion. I really like this low to the ground feeling, and the "N-Lock" lacing that extends into the arch. They definitely help keep the "cat-like reflexes" intact.:)

Good choice indeed. I just got them the other night and I am super impressed. They make my Montrail Conti Divides feel like tanks. The sock-like fit is awesome and they def do seem super agile. I took a quick jog last night and the cushioning seemed perfect even with their amazingly low weight. Only time will tell but they do seem like a rather robust shoe. I was actually surprised how sturdy they feel. Not sure I would use them on anything but day hikes or running, but I am def going to give them a shot on a few ultra light overnighters come Spring.

Yep there shoes are awesome. I do not have enough time in them yet to write a review but I have been training for a 30k road race in March and have been exclusively in these kicks. Going back and forth between road and paths I have found them to be super nimble, and yes, very light. They hug my foot similar to my beloved Montrail Vitesse, and they dry super fast after hitting a few freezing cold puddles. With 3 weeks of solid running mainly on roads the lugs seem to be wearing very well. Very excited to see how they do on the trails with a pack on.
