I'm terrible at this,but: Dicks Lake and/or Aloha? How'd your tent do?

I love me some Deso! Thanks for sharing. Did you also get a light show? I was driving west on I-80 from Reno to Sac during the storm (9:30pm-12am) and saw impressive lightning the whole trip. Some of the best I've ever seen in Cali.
We slept at Gilmore lake about 12 miles in and there was crazy lights in the North. I was not sure if it was a lighting storm or UFO'S—LOL. It rained past 12:00am for a long time but no thunder or lighting? 
so your trailhead was out of Emerald Bay? ("12 miles in".)

Oh of course! sweet little trailhead, especially from the East bay. Rocky trail though…at least at first.
