During our weekly Costco run I noticed they have Mens and Womens 32 Degree down (brand name) vests for $14.99. The tag says they are 90% duck down and the fill is 650. Might not be the most packable but can you really complain for $15.

I got one, and although I really prefer a size S, the M is ok for me. It has nice loft, nice and warm, and packs down pretty small. A stuff sack is included. I also want to go back and get one of the full jackets that were around $40. For anything comparable you'd be paying a hell of a lot more. I figure it'll be a good beater vest.
There are a few places where people can get good deals on vest and jackets: – Costco – Uniglo – Lands End I've seen great deals in all three.
I just picked up a Uniqlo vest. I've been buying those for over a decade (used to live in Japan). Uniqlo makes pretty good stuff.
