Nice rattlesnake pictures How close do you have to be to get bit?

For a second there as I was scrolling, those twos pictures looked blended together. It looked like you put your foot right next to the rattlesnake! Freaked me out.

Those look like Western Diamondback rattlesnakes – and well-fed.

Nice shots! Bobcats, Banana Slugs and Western Rattlers always make me think of the W Coast, Red Efts make me think of the Northeast. I think Red Efts are some of the most amazing creatures in a Northeast forest. Jay something tells me from your UL Creature shots that you might have been one of those kids always heading out to watch or catch frogs, tadpoles, lizards, snakes, turtles, etc. I was definitely one of those kids – I'd often watch them in the forest, catch some, raise them for a while at home to study them and then release. Jake, is that a mantis in your first shot? If so, it's the most rad colored one I've ever seen. I have a shot of a rare California Weasel (not an escaped ferrett) and some others I have to dig up from my external drive.
