We were originally headed to Glacier and had a permit/route for 6 nights but the fires closed our route. Then I planned a loop out of Holland Lake in the Bob, but with so much smoke coming in from the West it was hard to breath let alone see anything, so we pulled the plug on that. Option C turned out to be an absolutely amazing 60 miles in 5 days, 4 nights into and around Mt. Assiniboine in Assiniboine Provincial Park. The weather didn’t really cooperate and the lows ended up in the mid-20’s as opposed to the mid-30’s as forecasted the day before we left. The temps alone were dealable with my kit but the constant rain and snow made drying anything out nearly impossible. Still we had a GREAT time and saw some really beautiful country. If a picture is worth 1000 words this video is a short book. Hope you enjoy. https://vimeo.com/138572241

I agree with David, one of my favorite treks! The Assiniboine area has a special significance to me. My long time friend and backpacking partner did his first backpacking trip with me in 1974 and we picked Assiniboine as our destination. Last year we retraced our steps from forty years ago and hiked in from Sunshine Village to Assiniboine. It's an incredible area and I still don't feel that I've seen everything the area has to offer. I need to go back! Forty years ago we had to hike up the ski access road to get to Sunshine Village and I must say I much prefer the shuttle that they run there now. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it and it was interesting to see a different route in to the area.
