Hi all, I have a couple of trips done with a Terralite in both quilt and bag mode and really like it. Anyone else using one? If so what do you think?

Having tried and failed to get on with quilts the last two years, I picked up a Terralite this spring. So far it's seen several nights use, each time in bag mode. The extra girth in the middle makes it very comfortable for me as an active rotisserie style side-sleeper. I tend to rotate inside the bag instead of with it, and I can bend my knees easily. It's not as efficient as a narrower bag, but that hasn't proved to be a problem in temps ranging from 35-50F. I haven't overheated in it the way I've done with narrow bags used 25F above the nominal rating. I like the idea of using it in double quilt mode, but I haven't had a chance to do so yet. With cooler temps approaching, I am curious to see how well it works as an overbag.

I had a Terralite, I got rid of it due to it being inferior to the WM Alpinlite. I didn't like the hood, but I understand they didn't make a good hood with a draft collar due to it being able to turn into a blanket. I just couldn't justify owning both. I feel like I can stay just as warm as the Terralite provided in a 30F quilt that weighs 8oz less. It's cool to have a bag that turns into a blanket, but if I want a blanket, it is usually 40F or above and the Terralite is overkill. So I kept my WM Alpinlite, kept the 30F Golite Z30 quilt and got an EE Revelation PRO 40.

Western mountaineering sell bag expanders that'll add girth to most of heir bags. You'll probably end up a couple of ounces over the terra lite for similar warmth. You can also take them out if you wanted less air to heat inside. Of course you don't get the full zip.

I also have an Alpinelite (along with a Kodiak and Puma) and love it. My wife uses the Alpinelite when I use the Terralite, so I can justify having both.

The bag expander is a great idea for someone who has 1 bag and wants to use Bulky clothing in winter.

Have used the Terralite a lot this year.  I have used it both opened out as a quilt and zipped up as a bag. Definitely a keeper.  It’s definitley a decent 3 season bag.

I have no favorite, I love all my 4 WM bags equally :-)

I think I am going to experiment laying the open Terralite over another bag.
