Hudson Trail Outfitters is closing

http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/blog/top-shelf/2015/08/hudson-trail-outfitters-closing-all-stores.html Before REI opened their first store east of the Mississippi, Hudson Trail Outfitters (or Hudson Bay Outfitters as it was originally called) was the place to go for outdoor equipment in the DC Metro area. I remember trying to get a job there when I was a youngster, and was told I needed to wait until I was 16. So I did. And when REI showed up in College Park, I thought that would spell the end of HTO. Fortunately, I was wrong. While I've seen them rise and fall over the years, I think this is its final blow. I'm sad to see it go. :(HTO

That's too bad. I bought my first backpack from them.

I bought my Merrill "light weight hikers" from them. They used to have some insane sale day where everything was off 20% including kayaks. Every DINK in DC would show up in the SAABs… I didn't know they were still open.
