Has anyone else gotten an email saying that their password to this site has been changed? I figured that it was a false phishing scheme so before clicking on any suggested links I tried opening the site using my password and amazingly enough it worked. My old password still works fine. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Newton ;-)

I just got it also. I sent it back to BPL. Thought that it was a fake, but wanted to let them know. Terry

Nothing here … Considering how difficult it is to get ANY communications out of BPL, I think it is safe to assume it is a phishing exercise. Have you posted an email address lately?

To the best of my knowledge, that is a phishing scam. It comes in various forms. Cheers Roger Caffin

I never got the original email in question, but I did get one addressing those going out: "Hi BackpackingLight Lifetime Subscriber, As you may have read recently, we are in the process of migrating to a new platform, and just a few minutes ago, you may have received an email with the subject "[BPL] Notice of Password Change". You may safely ignore that email. No information has been changed or compromised. It was an oversight on my part when migrating your accounts to the new system. Sorry for any confusion. We are working hard on the new system and hope to have it ready for you to test soon. Cheers, Ben Klocek BackpackingLight Web Dev"

Roger, thanks for the prompt reply and confirmation of my suspicion. Greg, I refrain from posting my email address anywhere that isn't secure. ;-)

I got the e-mail TODAY. I posted to the forum about it, but then I noticed (after posting) that the e-mail was dated August 31. Where it has been hanging out for the last 6 weeks, I don't know. Perhaps those like me who didn't receive it before will get it now?

Perhaps "Hacker Bob" Gross is getting even with all those who wronged him?
