Olympic National Park Closed

Yes and those winds where sweeping through parts of GNP as well at that time. We made a small change in itinerary after some kind advise while filling our permits. The winds at Many glacier area to the border were at least those speeds as well. We were at the boarder area in the Eastern part of the park and the winds funneling through the mountains and across the fetch at our night at Cosley were formidable. Four feet into the shelter of cover and it was nearly unnoticeable, at the exposed end of the lake I felt like one of those weather reporters showing the gale force winds building as the hurricane comes ashore. At first it was novel but after 3 days and nights of that I was ready for a lul. Forget about anything hearing you coming down the trails and if you were to be unfortunate enough to have a not so friendly encounter with a big brown, well you might as well throw your canister of B-spray at 'em :) Needless to say the trees overhead were sturdy…no widow makers. jimmyb
