Hey All, Been awhile since I've posted…life sort of got in the way, and back surgery. In a couple weeks I'm planning the Pemigewasset Loop in the Whites. Should expect nighttime lows of 50* and highs of 75ish*. Take a look and I'm anxious to hear everybody's thoughts: https://www.geargrams.com/list?id=26346

Wow! How'd you get the entire hammock set up down to 13.46 oz? Which Grand Trunk hammock weighs 4.84oz? Crazy light!

How was your trip? Looking at the date of your post you should have had it by now. Your setup looks quite similar to my summer hang kit, but you've done some things to drop your weight nicely.

  • GT Nano-7 – With whoopie slings and two tree straps (8 & 10 feet long) I'm at 10.76 ounces. Still light, but not your 8.23 ounces. What are you using for tree straps? And since I'm six feet tall I've found the Nano-7 to be pretty small and I can't get any kind of a flat lay. I've migrated to BIAS hammocks and have found them to be much more comfortable for a 3-4 ounce weight penalty.
  • Your Te-Wa Summer Breeze UQ – I have one as well and have been comfortable with it down into the 30's, but mine tips the scale at 307 grams (versus yours at 232 grams). What did you do with your Summer Breeze to cut 2.65 ounces off something that weighs only 10-11 ounces to begin with?
  • How does the asym tarp work the GT hammock? I guess this comes back to my first bullet – I can't lay asymmetrically in my Nano-7 so a plain rectangular tarp covers me completely.
  • No cooking or eating gear or water containers in your list?
  • Headlamp, whistle, fire starting?

We'd love to see some feedback from your trip. Thanks for posting.
