Kestrel Ti Backpacker Knife on Massdrop right now

Not bad, but I really liked the titanium knives someone was selling here and on Etsy. I can't remember the name but they simple and very inexpensive. I got a larger one and it's a fine knife for lightweight hiking.

Imho,judging from.the pics, those Kestrel knives are a BIT above " not bad". Yeah, Kestrel's stuff is not cheap,.but their finish work blows the cheaper stuff away. So do their designs. You get what you pay for.

And i think i got exactly what i paid for – a comparable knife. https://www.etsy.com/listing/201418557/6-12-ultralight-titanium-knife This is the one i got, the only "sub-par" part of the deal is the sheath. But to be honest at $35, it's not that big of a deal (but i do wish it was better). Do you really think these are worth $50 more? That's more than second Ti knife.

Yep, you can buy two lesser Ti knives with crappy,unsafe sheaths. lesser design and fit and finish and no handle wrap for half the cost of the Kestrel.. As I said, you what you pay for:) Funny you can see that with Tenkara rods, but seem to be "all about price" with knives? A knife maybe called upon to save your life. The Tenkara rod is a mere toy by comparison ,and yet the knife is where you choose to save sheckles? One other thing, if this thread with an announcement of a Massdrop deal on your preferred brand, how would you feel if someone came on that thread and shat all over it? Bad form ,IMHO.

No one is shating on anything, just a simple comparison and knowledge for the uninformed that another knife exists that might meet their needs. Egads, more knowledge! The bad form is wanting to keep that information from them. Steve

Nothing wrong with my Flyweight sheath. Wrapped the handle myself. Same cord.

I ordered one from the MassDrop. We'll see how it stacks up against the usefulness of my Spyderco Ladybugs. Weight is about the same. I love my ladybug salt, so it'll take a significant improvement for me to switch it out.
