I've been having a really hard time finding good shorts recently, the mens shorts fit weird as I have a normal female build with hips but the womens shorts are usually too short for my liking and the pockets are a joke. Does anyone have a recommendation for shorts that are either mens cut that can work well on a female frame or womens shorts that are at least mid-thigh or longer with decent pockets? Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated.

Thanks!

For longer shorts, I like the Ex Officio Nomad Shorts. They come with an 8" inseam, which is pretty long for women's shorts. They also have the "Dig'r" version, which is basically the same but knee-length, like clam-diggers, or capris, or whatever regional term you prefer.

I'm pretty devoted to Patagonia Baggies these days. I think they're the perfect outdoor shorts. The women's are a 5" inseam. The men's come in longer versions and fit very similarly (go one size down), but they have a liner brief–the women's model doesn't.

Another vote for Patagonia Baggies (women's cut); also I hike in longer-inseam running shorts too. I cut out the stupid liner and wear my merino undies underneath.
Cheers,
Kim

Thanks for the suggestions. I was lucky enough to find another BPLer in my area with a pair I think will work well. Otherwise I'll be off to try some of those others. Thanks again!
