WA state fires, three fire fighters dead, twisp and winthrop evacuating, all of Ferry County under evac notice.

That's a tough job to begin with, and a horrible way to go.

It's so smokey out here right now, and there are so many fires, that I'm not sure what's burning where right now. I feel sad for their families.

As bad as they are having their @$$es handed to them this season, no wild land firefighter should have to buy a beer in any bar in Washington this year.

It's sad, and so unnecessary.

Throughout the west these brave men and women wildland firefighters are our neighbors and friends, and it's always gut wrenching when tragedy strikes.

So it's weird that I feel even more struck to read he was a member of this community too.
