I'm considering several trips ranging from easy to "might be impossible". I plan to head out between now and September 1st for a longer hike/kayak and then go back out on the weekends for shorter trips until it gets too cold. I'm looking for partners and am willing to consider alternative itineraries. The trips below are just the ones I'm considering right now. I have a cheapish kayak and a small two person canoe. Fishing and foraging are good right now on all the proposed routes below if that's of interest.
Easy: Bigelow Preserve-kayak the length of Flagstaff Lake and take day hike loops through preserve to Horns Pond and other areas.
Moderate: Pemadumcook Lake area-kayak from Baxter Park Road (where it divides Millinocket and Pemadumcook Lakes)to Nahmakanta Lake and camp along Appalachian trail there before heading back similar route. Could also kayak to Lower Jo-Mary Lake. Day hike loops abound along kayak route.
Might not be possible: Moosehead Lake area-Kayak from Lily Bay to Roach River and then from there through the chain of Roach Lakes to Appalachian Trail somewhere near little Boardman Mountain and Crawford Pond. This might require paddling against the stream in several areas and take a hell of a lot of time.
