So, I have been looking for awhile for a pair of good breathable waterproof Mitt shells. I like the Mountain Laurel Designs eVent Mitts but they leave quite a bit to be desired in the durability department. I was thinking about getting some of those and either,
1. Sewing some kind of durable material over the palm. Seam seal the holes.
2. Gluing some type of durable material over the palm
3. Taking the sticking out and replacing the palm with a durable material.
I figure either way would probably increase the weight by an ounce or more but it would be worth it to me to have them last quite a few seasons. I have some Toughtek laying around but is there a better material to use? Any suggestions on either of the above three?

It would retain some breathability and be less prone to condensation as opposed to a whole-surface treatment.
