How have you solved the problem of drawing water out of the bottom of the bladder with the hose attached up at the top? Do the sides tend to drain evenly?

This is a good question. I was originally thinking of inserting internal tubes with a splitter, but the simpler solution has been to "knead the boob" to put it rather crudely. This pushes the water from whichever side I want into a "staging area" behind my neck where the tube is located.

I'm not entirely satisfied with the back of the pack and plan to redesign that portion to have a flatter and wider profile against my back. The challenge for this design is to make it as functional for short day excursions as well as large enough capacity for SUL multi-day trips…

I think a piece of tubing long enough to reach in to the bottom of both sides with some holes cut in it at the center, inserted in to the bladder would do the trick – no need for a splitter or sealed connection w/ the external hose. But then, the tubing is usually the heaviest part of a bladder system. Anything to keep a channel open will suffice.

Sounds like the pack body is heading in the direction of ULA's Epic.
