Hi Guys,

I was looking for more reviews on Geigerrig's Hydration Engine when I stumbled across their Virus Filter which apparently weighs nearly half that of a Sawyer MINI according to the specs on each of their sites (I own neither).

Claimed Weights

Geigerrig Virus Filter – 1.05 oz.
Sawyer MINI Water Filter – 2 oz.

That said, the Geigerrig costs about $15 more and only handles ~100 gallons per filter cartridge, however unlike the Sawyer it also filters out viruses.

Thought I would share as I didn't find it when searching the forums.

I've owned two Sawyer Minis and the dry weight of each is 1.35 oz on my scale.

But look at the weight savings? You can have a lighter pack than your hiking buds!

Videos I've seen show it being used with their pressurized bladder.

Anyone know if it will work with gravity or squeezing?

Anyone compared flow rate with the Sawyer Mini?
