"I destroyed my wife's iron"
Yeah, been there. Except I now posses my wife's iron and sewing machine. If she needs anything fixed, she gives it to me.
It's still unclear whether I destroyed my mom's sewing machine. By sewing through too heavy material. All the evidence is now long gone.

except it's not her iron – I do the ironing.
Irons are $11 at Walmart or $4 at the thrift store.
One in the house for clothes.
One with the X-C skis for waxing.
One in the garage for bonding wood veneers with their heat-set glue.
Then as other stuff comes up, I use the one with the closest past usage.
