I'm looking between the possum down hat(now that it is in) and the Headsweat warm cap. I plan to use it more for resting and sleeping, but if cold enough for hiking. My question is, is it worth the money for the possum down? Does the warm cap cover the ears well? I plan to use the hat down to 20 degrees or so not to much colder then that. The warm cap is 1.6 oz and the possum down 1.85oz. Any advise or things I am not thinking about? Thanks for your advise.

have no pity on the possums – an invasive species in New Zealand – a gone wild gift from the aussies.

if you are using it with a quilt or hoodless bag you may want to consider the primalid from ID. Its got 3oz ploft in it and would be super warm. I just made a bomber hat w/ 6oz primaloft and I love it. it weighs 2 oz and heats up my whole body when its on.

I have the BMW cocoon hoody. I either use the Backpacking Light UL 60 Quilt or the western mountaineering pod 30. Any thoughts on what hat would be better or would it really matter? The headsweat warm hat is a little lighter not by much and cheaper. What would be the advantages and/or disadvantages of PossumDown vs. CoolMax® fleece? Thanks for the thoughts.
