North Atlanta Female looking for female hiking/backpacking partner

I'm not female and not near Atlanta, but the University outing clubs I've been involved with had a range of ages from undergrads through grad students and on to 20- and early 30-something university hangers-on. Some required student status but most allowed anyone in the area to participate. You could look around for posters and info at the student union of the local college, or do the 21st-century thing and google "hiking club" "outing club", etc for the nearby colleges.

Also, although they tend be a little older, existing groups (Sierra Club, etc) or just a local, adult hiking club will have various outings planned. If you meet another woman on such a trip of similar interests and abilities, you could plan future, smaller trips together.

Thanks for the suggestion of the University clubs, I will look into that. And I have spent a lot of time Google-ing various outdoor Atlanta/Georgia clubs but I have found most of the members to be older and retired. Which is fine to hang out with sometimes but I'm just looking to make some friends with similar interests at the same stage in life, that's all. Thanks again though!

Also not a female, but I am an Atlantan. You've probably come across some of the Meetup groups, but if not, take a look. GAG (Georgia Adventurers Group) does have its share of retirees, but also 20- and 30-somethings. In addition to hiking and backpacking outings, they also have social outings at local restaurants, so you can get to know people and see if it's a good group for you.

There's also an Atlanta Trail Runners Meetup, if you're interested in trailing running. Even if you're not, many of its members are also interested in hiking and backpacking, so it may still be a good way to meet people. More of it's members are in the under-40 age group (sigh, that's something I can only claim for a few more weeks myself, how depressing).

I could also maybe introduce you to my fiancée (a 30-something), though she's a South Atlantan and usually my (mostly) willing tag-along rather than a get-out-and-hike type herself, if that makes sense. But of course, she's awesome.

I think you will discover there are quite a few groups in the area that do outdoorsy stuff. I suggest linking up with any of the numerous groups (Meetup) and eventually you'll find someone with similar abilities and interests.
