Hi, I'm in Scotland and just signed up – very excited to join the site!
I've had a GG Gorilla for a couple of years and really love it. But I'm looking for a larger capacity pack for particularly gear intensive hikes, such as in winter, or for thru-hikes when no resupply for many days. Sometimes my base weight can reach 20lbs or even a little more, when taking winter gear up the West Coast of the Highlands. Add food and water to that and it can reach 35lbs.
But I'm not looking for a monster pack – I'd like something where the pack body is around 40L, give or take, but with an extension collar (10L?) with roll top, and plenty of external storage options.
So far I'm drawn to the ULA Circuit and maybe even the Catalyst, though perhaps that's overkill?
And, rating the Gorilla as I do, the Mariposa is a possible.
How do these packs compare and which would handle my load best?
Another interesting pack is the ZPacks Arc Haul.
I'd really appreciate any suggestions or advice. Thanks!
