Template/Pattern Material

Nice. Looks useful for larger projects. For smaller stuff I like to use hardboard (also available at Home Depot). You need a jigsaw to cut it but it stands up to repeated use with a rotary cutter, which really speeds things up.

Have used it – also use it all the time for the purpose it's sold for, protecting floors. The lays flat part – well,sorta, after a while. The real issue is you gotta buy a whole roll, which is like 60 bucks. I just had some left from a job so I used it. What it's great for is as a pattern for synthetic insulation. Tt's tough to get a paper pattern to lay down on Climashield so that you can mark it. With Ramboard (which is basically fairly thick cardboard), the stuff is stiff enough so that you can lay it on there and run a sharpie around it (but don't do that on a nice floor!), or just cut carefully right up against the pattern. You just have to know somebody in the construction business so you can get scraps.

Thanks for the hands-on report. The kite guys say it also allows one to use a hot knife without damaging the template edge much.
