Daryl,
To get the 1P and 2P so light, they state they use 7 denier nylon on the flies, which is a little in the flimsy side. I'm using 15 denier on a modified Goondie Australian tent, which is still pretty gossamer-like.
Another point, these tents have no spreader struts up top to add to headroom (as on a Hubba and many others), so things can get a little cramped when sitting up.
Maybe we will hear some comments about success with 7D canopies.
Wow, 7D is really pushing it IMO. It looks like a 1 person tent to me based on specs – or a 1person + dog.
For about the same weight and with the bonus of a lower price, I'd get a TT Stratospire 2 and have a true 2 person tent with better durability and resale.
By the way, what tent is in your avatar? MYOG white silnylon special? It looks kinda like a duplex or SMD Haven.
I agree with the light fabric comments. My REI Dash uses 15D and it seems light.
Drew,
Here's info on the avatar"
