It appears that for 2016 Jetboil will have the MicroMo, which will combines the regulated burner from the MiniMo with an 0.8 litre pot, the weight of the MicroMo is 340 gms (12 ozs) (Manufacturer specs) which is a little heavier than the 0.8 litre Flashlite at 312 gms (11 oz) (Manufacturer specs). These weights I assume include the Bottom Cover/Cup interestingly the Flashlite weight is similar to, if not the same as, the weight of the now discontinued Sol Aluminum.

It would appear therefore you can now have a system that allows simmering/cooking or just boiling water. It will be interesting to see there are any differences in fuel consumption figures.

Interesting. We went from having three 0.8L Jetboil offerings (Sol Ti, Sol Al, Zip) to … three 0.8 L Jetboil offerings (MicroMo, Flash Lite, Zip). Hmm. lol.

I kind of get the MicroMo, good simmer control in a small package, but I don’t see a great deal of difference between the Zip and the Flash Lite although the Flash Lite has a piezo ignition whereas the Zip does not.

I guess "Mo" focus-grouped better than "Sol". Maybe with the Sol Ti travails it started to become associated with the acronym SOL. :^)

Probably just doing it to generate some interest and buzz. New season, gotta have new stuff!

For winter, I'm luvvin' the MiniMo and the ability to use the Sumo vessel with it when there are 2 or more of us. Leave out that base bowl and swap out that heavy lid for a 4 Dog or my myog CF lid and the weight is probably close to the MicroMo anyway. Also thinking of doing a couple of boils with and without the neoprene cozy to see how much of a difference it really makes.

Too many lines..The Sol line had to be killed off and buriied for good.

Basically, the MicroMo is nothing more than the MiniMo burner with a Alumnium Sol cup..
Thus ,now all the Jetboil fans have a Sol you can actually cook with..finally.

And, to think it only took five years and a complete change of ownership to accomplish..;)

A few more intersting JB products for 2016..The Genesis and Luna burners that run on 1lb Coleman propane bottles. The two burner Genesis is heavy at 6lbs, but it is fast and compact.

While they are promoting it as a "basecamp stove" given.its weight and fuel used,I think its better for car campers, hunters and techy type glampers… It would obe a neat stove setup to have stowed in a vehicle to cook for large groups.. But,I dont see it being used in many hard core expedition base camps.

The little 6 oz Luna remote satelite burner which can be connected to the Genesis burner or directly to a 1lb propane bottle looks good for yeoman everyday vehicle use forthe average joe.

Bob,

I do remember deeing.thise folding Coleman burners a few years back..

Not exactly small enough to fit inside its own HE cookpot set though, is it?

I am no real fan of Jetboil as a whole, but I have to give them credit for that imrprovement ,at least.

For jetboil that's gonna be a really niche item, I suspect.

Pack animals, sherpas and aircraft transport, but maybe that's a bigger market than I imagine…

PS, it is astonishing how many models and brands of these camp stoves are featured on WalMart's website and elsewhere. Boggles the mind that all these folks are finding it economically viable to produce these things!

No doubt..To most people in the western consumer world " camping" involves getting to ones canosite in a vehicle. So, no need for mules ,sherpas etc..Which is why so many folks have no issue with 10lb tents or stoves. And why the market is flooded with them.

What we do toting everything on our backs is simply unessesary torture to most campers..Ultralight gear or not. I hunt, and it blows my mind how many hunters will not go on ANY "backcountry" hunt tbat they cannot drive a vehicle to their campsite.

Your post above did have me look around Colemans site. Apparently, the concept of MASS has not occured to them, no weights listed for anything on their website. One inexpensive US MADE(!?) Coleman model is the little dual burner Perfectflow2 for $39..Looks like a good one for cost effective glamping:) And,it keeps a few more jobs in the US. I might have to pick one of those up.

You are right about that…But on their website, that particular model IS marked "made in the USA"..;)
