I’m looking for a UL winter jacket. It seems most recommendations are for the Montbell UL Thermawrap Jacket or Parka. Can anyone comment on this jacket? Does it come with a stuff sack? Comparisons with the Montbell Thermawraps?

The fraction jacket looks just like the thermawrap parka. it has less insulation (60g vs 80g), weighs the same per size give or take half an ounce, and has a chest pocket. it looks to be a solid jacket, just a bit cooler than the therawrap parka. i would highly recommend a parka vs. jacket whatever you choose.

Kent,

I doubt that jacket comes with a stuff sack. The thermawrap parka will be your best bet for warmth to weight ratio. I bet you can find one on sale too.

Recently bought one from campsaver.com. Yes it does include a stuff sack.

Just received my MB thermawrap jacket from Campsaver also! Paid $119 for it. Haven't used it on any overnight trips yet, but am very happy with its performance so far. It's actually pretty warm for the weight. I went with the jacket vs. the parka because it is a little more versatile. I think this could be a great layering piece, or just fine on its own in warmer conditions. Besides if it's cold you can just wear a balaclava with it.
