I am admittedly a little nuts about my repair kit, and probably carry more than most people would. On our last trip, I broke one of my Fizan trekking poles. Since we have just converted to a trekking pole supported tent, and I am about to embark on my first solo trip, I had a friend whack off a short section of the upper most pole on the broken pole to carry as a "pole splint". If I am solo, and I bust a pole, I figure I would want this + duct tape to fix the pole enough to support the tent. Maybe I will be where I could use sticks to splint, but I do get above tree line, so who knows?

Too paranoid? Talk me down! I have used the superglue, Cuben fiber repair tape, and Glowire out of my kit, so I do feel I'm not completely crazy.

Or use a stick to support the tent in a pinch.

I'd say if you do plan to go above tree line then yes take the repair kit. Not having a suitable shelter at the end of the day when you're tired and want to get warm and cosy with a cup of warm coffee, and having to wrap yourself in tarp material instead etc – not likely to be the highlight of the trip!
