Granted, BO is different for different people and not necessarily unpleasant. I am not a particularly sweaty person but these last 18 days have been a different story. Temperatures in Switzerland have been in the 90's and humid . I developed a reaction to the sun on my arms and neck ( not a burn) so I wore the thinnest long sleeve shirt I brought which was some tight, stretchy poly thing :(.
I repeatedly gained 3000 to 5000 feet in elevation in one day with hardly any shade. I sweat. Keeping clean was easy because there was water everywhere, no dust to speak of and quite a bit of snow. I kept packing snow into my hat and that helped cool me down. I dipped my bandana in water as often as I could. Two pairs of underwear worked great; I could wash one and have it dry on my pack in a few hours. Baby wipes were great too.
I came across a few hikers here and there and some climbers and at the end of a trip that lasted a few days I would catch busses and trains back to family, sitting next to both hikers and well dresses bankers. I did not want to smell at all.
I had used a deodorant called Lavilin off and on for years, but never tested it quite like this. The claim is that one application lasts for a week. It did. I brought a minimal amount repackaged in a tiny plastic jar. This product is aluminum free and does not clog pores. I soaked my shirt repeatedly ; it had salt rings all over, but it did not smell at all after five days . My own super tidy/clean aunt could not believe it after giving me an almost too thorough smell test on my return ;)
I noticed on the website the company now also makes a foot deodorant, for those with that need…
The cream is very thick, white, like a zinc based diaper rash cream. I do recommend giving this a try.
