disbursement camping in Mojave Preserve

Hey All

I am doing a few road trips from Eastern AZ to California this summer. My midway point on my first day is the Mojave Preserve. I am looking for a good easy spot for disbursement camping. Need an easy spot to crash for the night. I had done this several years back and was able to find good info online…but cant seem to find it again. I will be driving West on Hwy 40. Does any one have any spots they can suggest? Is there better disbursement camping sites off Kelbaker rd or Essex rd?

Since you’re just looking to spend the night, I’m assuming you don’t want to drive very far into the park? Last time I was there I remember some really nice spots up on Mojave Road just East of the train tracks, but that’s probably an hour’s drive into the park.

I found this map, it looks like there are a bunch of spots off Kelbaker Road opposite the Granite Mountains.
