I have read a number of times people looking for camping footware to get out of the boots/shoes after a long day on trail. I have seen on BPL of closedcell foam slippers floating around so I decided to make a pair and post it on here for the benefit of others. To make them is a no brainer, step on the foam pad trace your feet allowing for the 'wings' that will fold up and over the top of your foot and gaffa/duck tape it together and viola. I use1.2cm foam for better protection from ground and comfort (more padding underfoot). The finished product is 1 ounce (28g) for sz12!! For another 15g totalling 43g (1.5 ounce) I can glue another layer of 'tread' and make it comfier and more puncture proof including gaffa/duct tape on the sole to prevent the foam from frilling away leaving hard to biodegrade rubbish in camp.

PLEASE NOTE 1; I haven't tested the 'grip' of the gaffa/duck tape on all surfaces available for slipperiness BUT, these slippers are only for pottering around in camp not rock climbing.

PLEASE NOTE 2; This footware is ONLY intended for pottering around camp and definitely not as an alternative to hiking or football or moonwalking.

EDIT; I am aware this may not suit everyone and for all incamp conditions, it's just intended for a bit of foot protection at an SUL weight category. Thank you

Out of 1 roll of foam (180cm x 60cm x 1.2cm) I can make 8 pairs of these and if you 'double sole' them then 4.

Enjoy :-)

Skip the wings and put a little hook-side adhesive velcro on the top side of the sole :)

The adhesive on gaffer tape and most duct tape dries out after a while. I have had the best long term results from transparent duct tape. It apparently uses a different adhesive. The adhesive on Gorilla tape is very sticky at first, but also dries out over time.

I still might set a challenge in the 'gears' list lol. See who has the lightest set of usable in-camp footware!

Great idea :)I have a couple of foam kitchen placemats that might work.
