Hi everyone-

I'm thinking of doing a 4-dayer with a couple friends in WA in Aug or Sept. I thought a thru-hike would be great because I don't know much of any loops that are 4 days long. Does anyone have any favorites they like to do? Maybe a great stretch of the PCT?

D'oh! Miles Per Day. Sorry. I'd say 10ish. It could be a bit more if needed. I don't think my friends will want to hike 15+ for every day of the trip.

You could certainly do sections of the wonderland, but the whole thing is 95 miles. I would recommend the Northern Loop in Rainier. About 40 miles and 6,000 feet. It overlaps with the Wonderland in parts. You will need backcountry permits.

Lyman Lakes loop (via Spider Gap) is also a great option and you won't need permits for your sites.

Bob beat me to most of them.

White to Chinook on the PCT is 28 miles. A bit short, but nice.

I second the Spider-Lyman-Buck Creek loop. It is a must do for anyone in Washington.

If you are looking for something a little less visited and a little more creative, I did this trip and enjoyed it…

Start at the Crater Creek TH which is the start of the Golden Lakes Loop. From there in to Cooney Lake. From Cooney catch the Chelan Summit Trail on past Star Lake until the Fish Creek junction. Take the Fish Creek trail down to Moore Point on Lake Chelan and then the Lakeshore trail back up to Stehekin. Then the ferry out. It is a great trip, fairly lonely country. The biggest downside to it is that the Fish Creek trail is hot and exposed and failry unmaintained through a big section of burned out area from a past wildfire.

Two web resources for your trip: WTA.org and nwhikers.net (a forum). Both are great for current trail reports.

Yeah, everyone agreed to the Spider-Lyman-Buck Creek loop. Right around 10 miles a day and seems like a lot of fun.

Thanks, again!!!
