Yes, it's true that I just recently found out about BPL through a friend and instantly fell in love with the community and ability to buy/sell backpacking gear with a like-minded community. I also acknowledge your seniority on this forum (kudos to over 2k posts), but I do take slight offense to you calling me out based on how long I've been here as if that made my opinion any less worth listening to. Being a recent college grad, I am still used to my professors saying, "Don't be afraid to ask a question. If you have it, then it probably means other people have the same question,as well". That being the case, I like to be informed about what I do on this forum and my intent with the OP was to make sure that I, myself, don't break any rules because of some confusion on my end and maybe this thread could be read by other people with the same question.
Furthermore, I'm not sure what you mean by not getting the price drops I want. I don't feel like I am actively searching for a smashing deal and low-balling people along the way for it…
Finally, it's true that I had recently noticed this behavior and was questioning it as my analysis of the Gear Swap rules did not match up with what was actually happening in the forum. Hence, my OP came alive to increase my own knowledge base.
