I saw over on the Jim Woods Basecamp site a disposable type coffee lid that would fit the Snow Peak 600 mug, making for a UL lid that I could drink comfortably from without my mouth contacting the hot titanium. Of the ones reported to fit, I hadn’t been able to find them online except in bulk, so I’ve been keeping my SP 600 with me in my truck and trying various lids from every store or place that serves coffee to go. I finally found one and it fits about as good as I could hope for.

I found it at Dollar Tree in a pack of 5 with 16 oz. cups under the “Home Store” brand label for, well….$1 (imagine that). As soon as I verified that they fit, I went back in and bought a second package for testing and for spares.

It’s pretty strong for a disposable coffee lid (I’ve seem some flimsy looking ones), and it fits snugly to the point where I can turn the mug over and shake it hard without it coming off, even with a small fuel canister, stove, and lighter nested in the mug. I also did a test drop of the empty mug from 6′ directly onto the lid (on a ceramic tile floor) and the lid held up with no visible damage.

I did a couple of test boils with it on the mug and it holds up nicely while bringing water to a boil. After several minutes at a rolling boil, I could see some effect of the heat on the surface of the lid at the drinking hole where the steam comes out, but the lid remained usable after 5 minutes at a rolling boil. I find that acceptable, especially since I don’t plan on extended periods of boiling. I saw no melting or deformity at the outside edges from stove heat coming around the outside of the mug.

The lid weighs 3 grams and seems like a good alternative to carrying the “Hot Lips”, as it weighs less and is multi-purpose, serving as both a lid and a heat shield for drinking.

Last fall. the asst manager at iur local Mickey Ds ( who is also a backpacker) showed me how several.of their coffee and drink.lids fit msny backoacking.cups. Their small and medium latte cup lids fit the SP 600 I believe. They are pretty stout black plastic as well.
