Very summer like weather this past weekend and the unusually low snow pack for this time of year got me out for a quick overnight in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The destination was Tank lakes. It is 8 miles of trail to the lakes in the Necklace Valley. This is followed by a 2-3 mile off trail scramble up to a small lakes basin. This is normally not to be done until mid-August, but this year is different. Great views, perfect weather, lots and lots of mosquitos!!
