"So swimming is out now?"

I think it depends on where you are.
If you are in a place where there is lots of flowing water or a huge lake and few people… swimming is cool

At the other extreme, if you are in the canyons of Utah and there are only a few small pot holes of water and a lot of backpackers using them for drinking water… then swimming is VERY UNCOOL.

Lots of situations between the extremes and good judgement is required.

Don't go swimming in those warm lakes that have leeches.

"So swimming is out now?"

*begin parenthetical thought bubble*

(Hmm when Craig says it like that, it really makes it look kind of silly when we say things like "swimming is not LNT friendly" as everyone has gone swimming in a river or lake before…. time to deny everything and make counter accusations)

*end parenthetical thought bubble and transition to official statement which does not, even loosely, resemble reality or the truth*

Craig,

Not only does swimming afiliate you with the Axis of Evil, but it also makes you a bed wetting liberal commie.

If the place is real remote I could see it, maybe. but to wonder out loud why people won't swim in the cold water, I'm sure for many they see a crowd and don't want to add to it. At least that's my thought process when I've seen people ask strangers (me include), "hey why aren't you swimming"?
