Waterton Canyon, the traditional start of the SOBO CT, is closed indefinitely. Hopefully they'll get it re-opened before the start of the CT season. Otherwise it may force hikers to start at Indian Creek TH, which is where hikers with dogs have to start.

I was going to put this in Pre-trip planning but thought more people would see it here.

You could also start and/or end the CT in Roxborough State Park; trails in there connect with the CT slightly west of Strontia Springs Dam, I believe, which is after Waterton Canyon.

The closure sucks, I only live 5 minutes from Waterton and really enjoy running along the river.

Well, that was quick — the Colorado Trail Foundation just announced that Waterton Canyon has been re-opened because the condition of the dam was not as bad as the authorities originally thought.
