I'm thinking of taking a beginner to the Saddlebag Lakes area later this month. Anyone have any idea what the mosquitoes might be like? Would you think there will be an appreciable difference mid-month vs. the end of the month?

The best source of Sierra Mosquito info is always over at HighSierraTopix. The 2015 Mosquito Report thread is here:

You might want to browse through the 2014 thread to get a sense for what to expect:

Unlikely to be too bad, since the nights are most likely going to be below freezing still. I would expect the end of the month to be more likely to have skeeters, as there is usually a noticeable difference in overnight temps from mid-May to late May. But do check the HST page as noted above, that's the most likely spot to find up-to date info. And track the weather as well, since warmth is your enemy and cold is your friend when it comes to skeeters.
Thanks – I did know about the HST page, but just wasn't too sure about how 2014 applies to this year, which is the strangest year I've seen yet for snow conditions. Last summer was strange enough.
