Hi, I'm new here. After lurking on the site for a bit I was inspired to build a climashield quilt, bivy sack and a 5×8 tarp. I've been thinking about making a bigger tarp than my 5×8 I made. I've read about people taking a 5×9 piece of fabric and cutting it on a diagonal, then sewing it together to make a 9x6x4. I made a 9x6x4 prototype out of 1mil painters plastic and it's seems much roomier, and I could even pitch it in a half mid, which I like but is too cramped in the 5×8.

I have two questions: has anybody tried this with a bigger slant, say 9 or 10x7x3?
Are there thoughts as to whether it should be joined with the outsides in, causing a four sided shape, or diagonals in, causing a six sided shape?

Thanks in advance
